Biography

My name is Amelia McCloskey and I have had a passion for singing and songwriting for as long as I can remember.
I am now a Professional Vocal Coach.
I am proud to have achieved a National Diploma in Performing and Composing at Reading College and have graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music Guildford, which is Europe's leading school for Rock and Pop musicians, where I studied vocals and Performance. Past students include Amelle Berrabah (Sugababes), Newton Faulkner, Geneva Lane (X Factor's Belle Amie) and Nick Tsang (Ting Tings) plus many more!
I have been teaching for the past five years in London and Bournemouth and I am currently teaching vocals privately and also at Showbiz Academy, Julie Adams Stage School, La Combe Dance School, Swish of the Curtain Stage School, Hammond Dance School and various local private schools. I have previously worked for StageWise, Stagecoach and Beat Dance School and various workshops with other Stage Schools in contemporary music and musical theatre.
I have been on the judging panel for South Coast Idol SouthCoastIdol.co.uk and a regular judge on Talent Call, Open Mic and Live and Unsigned. In which I also work with my own students to prepare them and enter them in for auditions and mentoring talented acts from the competition for artist development.
As well as singing and teaching I am a songwriter and have spent time working in Los Angeles at Top Recording Studio... Glenwood Place. I have worked with Michael Ross top engineer/producer (Pussycat Dolls, Christina Aguilera, Eric Clapton) in L.A.
I have had 3 songs chart in at the semi final position for the UK songwriting contest and have signed publishing contracts for my tracks, 'Suitcase Kid' and 'Bully' in the US and have recently signed another publishing contract for my tracks, 'Addict', 'Lost in a Lie' and 'My Secret Enemy' with a publisher in London.
I have also gained experience of the industry through work experience and at just 16 years of age i did an internship at Beggars Banquet Record Label in London, i was also offered an internship at New York. At 17 i had regular paid work as a live singer in Cyprus.
I have worked with various producers in the UK and US, recording at Running Frog Studios with Producer Neil Thom, Matt Walters at Quince Studios and also in L.A with 7th Level Productions - producer James Lugo and Brian Yakulsa (Enrique Iglesias, Brian Wilson, Silverchair, The Veronica's), engineer Kennie Takeshi (grammy winner for mixing Gnarls Barclay ‘Crazy’), Thomas Johansson, (Wheatus, Coolio, All Saints) via SBM Management and had my tracks mastered by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road Studios.
I have had radio interviews and my music has been played on:

I have performed at many venues in and around London, such as West One Four, West Kensington. Also The Blag Club, Notting Hill, Bullet Bar, Monkey Chews, Camden to name a few.
I have received various write ups in local papers for promoting bands and organising band nights at venues.
I am currently focussing on songwriting and vocal coaching and have recently been writing in Nashville, Tennessee with writers such as Jason Blume, (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears).
